Famous Recipe at every andhra and tamil home.....Most of the times meals is incomplete with out this...Check out the procedure....

Ingredients :

1 cup Toor dal (kandi pappu)
big lemon sized tamarind (chintapandu)
2 Drumstick cut into 2-3 inch pieces (mulakkaya)
1 carrot
1 potato (bangaala dumpa)
3 inch bottle gourd piece (sorakaya mukka)
4 green chilli (pachi mirapakayalu)
2-3 small onions (ulli payalu)
3 tsp sambar powder
1-2 tsp red chilli powder (karam)
1/2 tsp chana dal (pachi sanagapappu)
1/2 tsp jeera (jeelakarra)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds (Aavalu)
curry leaves
1 dry red chilli (Erra mirapakaya)
salt
oil

Preparation :-

1)Pressure cook dal by adding 2 cups of water to 4-5 whistles and keep aside.

2)Soak the tamarind for 15 minutes ,squeeze out water and keep aside.

3)Heat a pan ,add 2-3 tsp oil and Add red chilli,chana dal,jeera,mustard seeds and fry untill mustard seeds splutter.

4)Now add drumstick pieces,curry leaves,chopped onion(chop it to big pieces or don't chop onion if it is smaller enough),green chilli and fry for 2 minutes.

5)Now add chopped carrot,potato,bottle gourd and fry for 3-4 minutes.

6)Add sambar powder and fry for a minute.Now add squeezed tamarind water,and 1 cup normal water.Check the level of sourness,it should be bit sour but not too much.Adjust sourness by adding some more tamarind or water.

7)Add salt and let it cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes.Meanwhile check the cooked dal and mash it well.It's better if you grind it to a paste.

8)Once the tamarind water cooked for some time add cooked dal to it,add red chilli powder and adjust the salt.

9)Cook it for more 10 minutes and at the end check the taste and adjust the salt/red chilli powder as per your taste.Turn off heat and sever hot with rice.
