Curry Leaf Powder (Karivepaku podi)
















Ideal for Idli,Hot Rice with ghee tastes yummy.


Ingredients:

2 cups cleaned curry leaves
2 tsp corrainder seeds
6 red chillies
6 cloves
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
lemon sized tamarind
4 tbsps black gram (minappappu)
2 tbsps bengal gram (sengapappu)
salt to taste
1 1/2 tbsp oil


Preparation :-

1)Add oil to pan ,add red chilli,then add bengal gram(senagapappu) let it fry for 1 minute.Now add black gram(minappappu),fenugreek seeds.Don't burn them..keep it on low heat.

2)After a minute add corriander seeds,tamarind,cloves and keep frying them and fry them on medium heat till they turn red. Don’t burn them. Keep tossing them around continuosly.

3)Add curry leaves and roast them untill they become crisp.

4) Turn off the heat ,let it cool then grind it to coarse powder.While grinding add tamarind lastly otherwise dal may not grind to nice coarse powder.You can feel the nice aroma comes from the powder.Tastes yummy when you eat with rice along with ghee.....hmmmm.......Also good with idly and it's healthy as well ,helps in reducing choelestral.
