Beerakaya Senagapappu Kura (Ridge Gourd Curry)




Wonderful mom's recipe to almost everybody :) .... Be a wonderful mom to your kid by trying this out......

Ingredients :

1/2 kg Ridge Gourd (Beerakaya) peeled and cut into pieces
1/4 cup chana dal (pachi sanagapappu) soaked for 1/2 hr
3 green chilli (Pachi mirchi) 
1 big Onion (Ulli Paya)
1 tsp corrainder powder (Dhaniyala podi)
1 tsp cumin powder (Jeelakarra podi)
1 tsp mustard seeds (Aavalu)
1 tsp cumin seeds (Jeela Karra)
curry leaves (Karivepaku)
1 tsp red chilli powder (karam)
salt
oil

Preparation :-

1)Soak Chana dal for half an hour and keep aside.

2)Heat a pan ,Add oil (amount required for frying),Now add mustard seeds,cumin seeds and let the mustard seeds splutter.

3)Add curry leaves,chopped green chilli and fry for a minute.Now add chopped onion and fry until onion becomes soft.

4)Add ridge gourd pieces and fry for about 5 minutes.Now add soaked chana dal to it and cook for more 5 minutes.

5)Add cumin powder,corrainder powder,salt,red chilli powder ,add some water if required and cook by covering with lid for about 10-15 minutes.

6)Adjust water if required while cooking.Turn off heat and serve hot with rice.
