Semiya Payasam (Vermicelli Kheer)



It's almost every andhra family recipe during festival.....A Sweet Recipe....!!!

Ingredients :

1 cup vermicelli (semiya)
1/4 cup sabudana (saggu biyyam)
1 or 1 1/2 cup milk(depends whether you like it thicker or thinner)
3/4 cup sugar (if you want more sweeter add some more)
2 cardamom crushed(Yalukalu)
2 tsp cashew nuts
2 tsp raisin
1 1/2 cup water
3 tsp ghee or oil

Preparation :-

1)Heat a pan,add  ghee or oil to it and add cashew nuts and raisins.Let it turn into light brown and remove them from heat and keep is aside.

2)Heat pan again,add some more ghee or oil and add vermicelli to the pan.Fry until it starts to change it's color to light brown and keep it aside.Don't fry it more time otherwise it gets burned.

3)Heat the pan again and Add water.Add your sabudana to pan and let it cook almost completely in water.

4)Now add you semiya and let it cook.Make sure that semiya and sabudana gets cooked by the time you add sugar and milk.

5)Once vermicelli & sabudana is cooked add sugar and milk.Cook it for 6-8 mts.

6)Finally add your crushed cardamom ,fried cashew nuts ,raisin and swith off heat.Serve.
