Ulli Garelu ( Onion Vada )



Very very famous Andhra recipe...Used as snack or can eat with rice as well.

Ingredients :

1 cup black gram (urad dal or minappappu)
2 inch ginger piece
4-5 green chilli
2 big onion
1 cup fresh corriander leaves
1/2 cup curry leaves
salt
Oil for deep frying

Preparation :-

1)Soak the black gram over night or about 5-6 hours.Grind it along with ginger and green chilli.Don't add water if required add few drops.

2)Add chopped onion,chopped corrainder leaves,chopped curry leaves,salt to the paste and mix well.

3)For making the vada's you can use your hands or a thick polythene sheet. 

4)Heat a pan with oil for deep frying.

5) Take a small ball of paste on to your polythene sheet, pat into round shape and make a hole in the center and drop it into the heated oil.

6)Before making another just sprinkle few drops of water and spread over the polythene sheet to get the next one easily.Now take another round ball and do repeat it again.

7)Fry till they turned into  brown color and remove from heat.Drop them on tissue paper to absorb the excess oil.

8)Serve hot.
